Can I Get Waterproof Scales?2018-06-11T14:44:01+10:00

Yes, although there are different types of “waterproofing”. Waterproof scales are designed for use in wet areas and there are various levels of “waterproofing” available. The IP (Ingress Protection) standard for sealing lists IP65 as capable of withstanding low pressure water from any angle with limited access. Unfortunately, limited water access can cause damage to sensitive electronic components.

Are My Scales Trade Approved?2018-05-30T16:08:11+10:00

Trade Approved scales are marked with a National Standards Commission (NSC) or National Measurement Institute (NMI) approval number on the scale. Eg. NSC No. 6/4D/235 , NMI 6/4C/252. Scales used for trade must be of an approved type and have been Verified by an Approved Scale Verifier. When purchasing a Scale from us, it will be Verified by one of our technicians and evidence of this provided to you. A label with the Verifier’s Mark will be placed on the Scale. See the Green/Silver label in the image. It is important that this label NOT be removed.

What are Trade Approved Scales?2018-05-30T15:35:12+10:00

Trade approved scales are a particular set of scales approved by The National Measuring Institute. Each model scale has a unique code to show certification of approval.  If your business sells goods by weight or measure to the public in Australia, then by law it is required to use a verified trade approved scale or other types of verified weighing equipment. The National Measurement Institute (NMI) approves a particular scale as a trade approved scale only if it is in accordance with their regulations. If your business sells to the Australian public and does not use trade approved scales, you could be risking a fine or worse losing credibility among your customers.

How Often Should I Calibrate my Scales?2018-05-30T15:25:16+10:00

Currently there is no legislation in place to define the time period to Calibrate scales. Your scale usage, the environment in which they are used and the scales required accuracy are all major factors when considering how often to test their accuracy. Testing scales more often will help ensure accuracy. Based on usage some scales may require yearly or monthly tests while others like Super Markets may have daily spot checks in place. We recommend testing and calibrating your scales at least every 12 months to ensure accuracy.
